CONCLUSION Probable Astro (VENUS) The local Air Base was called during sighting. Nothing unusual was observed on search, height finder or gap filler radars at the base. Two airmen went outside to try to observe the object.

BRIEF SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS Civilian observers sighted a round red-orange object that was approx 20 yds in diameter. Inside lights were observed. The object moved in an Easterly direction and back to the original position then disappeared rapidly over the horizon towards the east.

COMMENTS CONT'D: They noticed an object in the general area of the initial sighting. They said it appeared bigger than a moon and silver in color. Shaped and diameter were not known due to distance of the object. Twenty minutes later the object had disappeared. VENUS setting in Western sky at approx 2950 hrs. VENUS with a visual mag., at this time of year, of -3.4 would have been the brightest astronomical body in western sky.
