11. BRIEF SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS Object traveled east then northwest. It was a flashing object which left a smoke trail 10-20 ft long. It traveled at a very high speed at an altitude of approx 3000 ft. Object was flying on a high arc trajectory and appeared to be climbing when last sighted. Climbing, duration & general characteristics tend to rule out meteor observation. Jet a/c with afterburner ruled out because of duration although not a possibility. Characteristics of sighting in accord with this evaluation. Evaluated as MISSILE/ROCKET in view of observer's belief & qualifications.
