BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Observation of blast off of satellite from position 50 miles east of Canaveral, Bright flash of orange light on horizon, First 2 degs of flight observed at which time object went behind clouds, Moments later observed at 40 deg elevation on Easterly heading, Tail of light assumed three colors, Red white and blue with red the leading color, Again obscured by clouds and final observation of faint white streak in east.

11. COMMENTS Launch of Explorer XV from Cape Canaveral at 2318Z, Placed 1962 Beta Lambda into orbit.
