X. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Explosion, Bright light viewed for 2-3 sec. Explosion lasted 1/2 sec. lst observed as Ball of light w/ extremely short tail. Looked like ball of fire.

XI. COMMENTS: Pilots saw what appeared to be an explosion which was viewed, less than 1 sec. 1 pilot reported objt had very little, if any, tail. Both reported objt very little, if any, tail. Elevation of objt was too high to have been meteor explosion above arctic, plus, direction of observation tends to rule this out. Most logical explanation would be a large meteor exploding in earths atmosphere. Therefore the report is categorized as probably bolide.
