10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Object like a very bright star with rims of red and brown, whirlwind shape; like a giant gear and a large orange ball; slightly larger than grapefruit but smaller than a volleyball. Object first noticed east of Pebble Beach over water about 30 deg above the horizon. Initial observation object assumed stationary. About 2 minutes later the object disappeared to the North, still at 30 deg elevation.

11. COMMENTS Object could not have been a balloon as direction of motion was against the wind. AB w/c would have been over a NAMU warning area, and should have appeared to gain altitude as it moved toward the observer. The planet Jupiter was in the position indicated and had a magnitude of -1. The witness probably observed the planet Jupiter.
