12. CONCLUSIONS

This case triggered off more than 300 similarly described reports within a 3 day period due to wide publicity and sensationalism given by the press, radio and TV. Oval or round shape, one or more, color white or greenish-white in color. The size and maneuverability of objects varied widely. [ILLEGIBLE] observers, which ranged in the size of a basket ball to that of a small plane. The majority reporting that the object moved slowly from side to side. Most observers stated that the object affected or stopped their cars' operation. Duration of sightings ranged from 2 seconds to 15 minutes. One observer had one bright flash of lightening flashes & the existence of rain or mist in the area.

After very extensive checks and detailed investigations by the Air Force and with complete collaboration with both Air Force & non-governmental scientists it was concluded that the sighting was due to a very rare phenomenon, ball lightning.
