Although the description is similar to that of a hot air balloon, the sighting is classified as Unidentified Data. Reasons for classification are unknown but may be due to the observer's unfamiliarity with the object.

11. BRIEF SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS AF Form 117 that was sent to him.

The observer reported to the FTD Duty Officer that he had sighted a round globe-like object that was deep red in color, self-luminous, and white light around the edges. The object or light was about the size of a dime held at arms length.
