LOCATION Tripoli, Iowa (1 witness)

CONCLUSION The reporting officer felt the observer was watching a star. However TX states that object disappeared at an elevation of 50 deg. Stars do not set in the S^2 and don't disappear on a clear night at 50 deg elevation.

BRIEF SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS Observer sighted object the size of a football, that was yellow, blue, and white. The object seemed to dim then get brighter. Observer heard the sound of an idling plane.

COMMENTS CONT'D: TX does not state if object was yellow, blue and white all at once or if object alternated in these colors; Does not say how long the noise of a plane was heard. Form 164 was sent to observer to confirm contents of TX and also give additional necessary information but the form was not returned.
