BRIEF SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS
Two different observers reported seeing an unusual object in the vicinity of San Luis Obispo, Calif. Object was compared with a large weather balloon by one observer. The object was reported to be round in shape and being amber and silver in color according to the observer. Both observers just happened to look up and noticed a starlike object in the sky at a time when no stars would have been visible.
A 450 ft experimental balloon, Project No H-66-74, was launched from Holloman AFB, N N on August 26, 66. The balloon was tracked to Taft, Calif., were it was lost in the area of a thunderstorm. Taft, Calif., is approximately 50 miles from San Luis Obispo, Calif.
