There is no reason why the sighting could not have been three satellites. There is no data in the report to indicate that satellites were not responsible for the sighting.
Observers noted three separate objects within a 35 minutes period. Objects possessed qualities similar to those of a satellite as stated by observer, but seeing three in that time puzzled him. No sound, trail, tail, or exhaust noted. All objects were traveling in a southeasterly direction.
