11. BRIEF SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS Unidentified sightings reported throughout Alaska of object(s) appearing as bright astro bodies and in most cases alternately changing colors. Some reports indicated directional changes. Sightings were reported from Anchorage, Fairbanks, Cape Lisburne Northeast Cape, Cape Newenham, Cape Romanoff, Unalakleet, Indian Head and Fort Yukon. Considerable public reaction resulted from Radar and Visual reports. Initial investigations revealed that most reports were attributed to Astro Bodies and Satellites. Only one report has Radar verification.
COMMENTS: Radar/Visual, 23/1302; see case file. Controller believes object to have been Balloon, 24 Jan., Eliason, 2200-2300 Local (Probably Astro).
