10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Obj in flight crossing own path observed by 3d mate of sea-going vessel. Appeared as light of same brightness of brightest star. Obj appeared to flash. Small white light similar to Star Rigel at 60 deg elevation 110 deg az erratic motion.

11. COMMENTS Motion and location indicated that the star Vega was observed, however as 3rd mate on a ship this astronomical body should be well known. Possibility that star was distorted by unusual atmospheric conditions could lead to misinterpretation of this body, res-insufficiently stated for evaluation, Vega likely culprit.
