10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING: Object glowing like a giant comet or spotlight in flight from East to West observed by ANG pilots and thousands in Hawaiian Islands, Also observed on F-102 at 40,000ft. Object in sight for 5-6 minutes. Left vapor trail. Observed by WX observer Trail lighter than that from jet.
11. COMMENTS: Missile launched from Vandenberg confirmed by contact with Range Officer in telephone conversation.
