10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING: Obj initially sighted at 108deg true on horizon. Disappeared following sighting. White cloud observed elov 160deg azimuth. Described as brighter than Venus or any lst mag star. Alternately appearing & disappearing. Pear shaped.
White cloudy glow appeared to grow around center as the brightness diminished. No effect on radar or radio.
11. COMMENTS: Formalhaut described in rpt for most of the period. Obj rate of motion consistent with the movement of an astro body. It is difficult to understand how this lst mag star was misidentified by the naval unit rping it as a UFO. However, since the positional info coincides w/that of the star coinciding w/that of the star Formalhaut. Distortion due to atmospheric conditions.
