10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Round object approx 1/2 size of moon sighted to P.O.W by several witnesses. Object was orange in color and appeared to be moving either toward or away from witnesses. Object disappeared after 2 min moving vertically, then reappeared after 2 min moving toward SW. When first sighted, it had elevation of approx 15°, when it reappeared had elevation of approx 75°.

11. COMMENTS Venus was in a direction coincident with that reported for the object. The planet was just setting and was of -3.4 magnitude. Witnesses probably observed Venus and misidentified its motion with it due to effects of atmospheric refraction. Orange color was also an effect of refraction. Just as Venus set, it gave impression of moving vertically upward. The B.W reported in area was probably passing soon after and witnesses thought it was the same object.
