10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Round object, 6-7 times brighter than Evening star (Venus), bright white turning to dull red as it traveled W. Photographed sky: Sight=35° azimuth, 27° magnetic. Disappeared at: Sight=35° azimuth, 27° magnetic. Estimated speed--100 mph or better.

11. COMMENTS: It is concluded that the witness probably was watching a mirage of the planet Venus. The direction of the object coincides with that of the planet at the time of sighting. Venus was of a magnitude of +3 on the night sky at the time of the sighting. The weather conditions, as described, are favorable for the mirage. This object was probably the planet Venus.
