[HW:] Brief Summary of Sighting: Round, bright, white light about size of volley ball with an amber-red color on its lower side. Plane flying from Dallas to Oklahoma City, about 15 miles from Wichita Falls on an outbound heading of approx 216°, altitude 6500'. Object was sighted approximately 20 miles away. Object descended slowly away from a/c on course of approx 273° No trail or exhaust or sound. At about 0334Z obj disappeared towards ground. About 10 sec later red flash seen on ground. About 1329Z another red flash, Glove disappeared about 0410Z.

[HW:] Comments: The zenith of the object coincides with the position of Venus at the time of the sighting The planet is just setting and it is possible that atmospheric refraction was the principal cause for identification The description of the object and its motions are those which would be associated with an astronomical objt subjected to the effects of atmospheric refraction.
