BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING [ILLEGIBLE] persons sighted obj half-moon shape, fifteen to 20 times average star altitude hovering over horizon. In motion up & down movement & then pendular motion at intervals. Obj glowed reddish-yellow & appeared to have bright streaks shooting out of it. Description of shape varied and observed as half-moon to rod to slightly oblong to frisbee-like size varied in size to five ft wide & ft high. Fiery red & yellow, blinding white streaks extending horizontally.
CONCLUSIONS Was Balloon Possibly Balloon Possibly Balloon Was Aircraft Probably Aircraft Probably Aircraft Was Astronomical Probably Astronomical Probably Astronomical Other Insufficient Data for Evaluation Unknown Astro computers & charts show Venus in almost exactly the elev & azimuth given by observers. Additional info relates case to myrtle beach S.C. sighting of 9 Jan-12 Jan identified as Venus.
