BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Source reported object penetrated wall of his home through metal screen & imbedded itself against wall Point of impact against wall approximately 6 inches lower than hole through screen Dimensions & description: Approx 9" long, 1 3/8" diameter, 4 holes in back ridges or rings 3 1/4" fm end, strong iron-oxide order Source states obj struck house fm West No other identifying marks. COMMENTS Object was examined and found to be an H-2H parachute flare From the angle of entry into the house it was fired by someone in the neighborhood and not fm an a/c as originally alleged House occupied by a cripple Considered to be a matter for police after obj identified & similar spont flares found in neighborhood Results of investigation phoned in to Hq USAF, [STAMP:] Dec '57 per their request.
